Discrimination Against Bikers In Jacksonville, North Carolina

Incident #1

From: Neil Manson, Armed Forces M/C

RE: The Orleans House Lounge

Date: 06 october 1999

246 South Wilmington Hwy

Jacksonville, NC 28546

Refused to Identify Herself: On Duty bartender

At approximately 21:00 hours (9:00 PM) I entered the Orleans House Lounge with another Armed Forces M/C member, Joe Knipe. Upon entry we noticed a sign that said, "No Organizational Colors Allowed." We entered the lounge and proceeded to the bar. The bartender asked us to turn around so that she could see our backs. She then informed us that if we wanted to be served, we would have to remove our colors. I handed her a "Discrimination is Illegal" card prepared by our AIM attorney.

She attempted to return the card to me. I asked her to give it to her manager or the owner. She voiced concern that she would get in trouble with the management if she attempted that, and that she was only attempting to enforce the rules established by the management. She volunteered that this policy had been established after an incident in which a patron was stabbed by another (non-biker) patron. We left the Orleans Lounge at that time, without further incident.

Jacksonville, NC 28546

Name not known: On Duty bartender

At approximately 21:00 hours (9:00 PM) three members of the Armed Forces M.C were sitting at a table in the loft area of the Orleans House. A patron (not a member of any organization; nor an affiliate of the establishment) approached the table and informed the members of the Armed Forces M/C that they were not welcome here. The patron then commenced to knock over the beer bottles of the members of the Armed Forces M/C.

Members of the Armed Forces M/C restrained themselves considerably and used only that force which was necessary to extract themselves from the situation and the establishment.

No Law Enforcement officials were called, and no damage to property or persons was committed. No report was filed with local authorities.

Name not known: On Duty bartender

On or about 16:00 hours (4:00 PM) on August 4 2003, I entered the Orleans House, a local drinking establishment. I approached the bar and requested to be served a beer. As soon as the bartender noticed that I was wearing club colors, she refused to serve me.

I asked why I was being asked to leave. The bartender informed me that we (MCs) always start trouble. I attempted to hand the bartender a "Discriminaton Is Illegal" card prepared by our AIM attorney. The bartender gazed at it, then told me to depart. I departed without incident.
